This near level block of 4.795 hectares (11.8 acres) has about 180 metres of frontage to the River Derwent reserve. Crystal clear water flows along the boundary from its source at nearby Lake St Clair. This mighty river flows on through rich farmlands also providing for hydro electricity production, irrigation water for farms, vineyards and cherry orchards and is the resource for Hobart’s water supply before it eventually spills into the sea at Hobart (about 2 hours drive away). The river is also the home of vast numbers of wild trout, with the many dams and easy access to long stretches of fishing waters proving an irresistible lure to those that chase the trout.

The land fronts onto the Lyell Highway and is at the turnoff to Lake St Clair with the famous Wall in the Wilderness wooden carvings and sculptures, just a short distance down the road. The Pump House point tourism development is about to commence at Lake St Clair, this high end facility will create considerable interest in the area.

The block itself is very gently undulating and features buttongrass marshes rising to lightly treed bush with an understorey of heaths and native vegetation. Power and Telstra are at the boundary, the trout are awaiting your attention in the river and a pretty highland block is waiting for you to design and build your lodge and getaway in an area from which you can base your wilderness wanderings.
