“The Basin” at Dysart was granted to James Foster for his services in introducing Angus cattle to Tasmania from Scotland in the early 1800′s and subsequent generations of Fosters have farmed the property to the present day.

“The Basin” is 308 hectares +/- on 7 titles giving the property great potential to be split. It is a very scenic property providing views from Table Mountain to Mount Wellington with many different aspects and topographies to be enjoyed all over the property.
It has historically run about 1,500 ewes producing wool and lambs, and some cattle have also been run. The strong soils have not been cropped in many years ensuring the ground would be very clean.

The rendered sandstone 3-4 bedroom homestead was built in the early 1800′s and is still very sound making it a very attractive renovation option. There are 2 other houses on the property that are disused, along with a 2 stand shearing shed and other farm buildings, all in an appealing setting in an area known as Foster’s Basin.

As an agricultural development project, a renovation and first farming option, a rural residential development, or simply securing an amazing piece of Tasmanian property steeped in history, “The Basin” is a great opportunity.
