The house embraces many solar passive qualities, facing true North East and the entire north side of the building is made of glass panels featuring Pilkington Smart Glass 90% as efficient as double glazing. There is a fully insulated suspended concrete slab covered with slate to act as a heat sink. This is supplemented with vertical masonry heat sinks, delivering warmth back to the house when it cools outside. The whole of the house is insulated, floors, walls and ceiling. There are celestial windows that open to allow hot air to escape, the ambient air temperature year round is 20 degrees. The Tas Oak ‘post and beam’ design has been chosen to blend in with the landscape and create fantastic open living spaces.

The bathroom is a delight with an opening glass door to outside and dial up gas hot water. In the large deck that flows all along the side of the house, and connects the studio or second bedroom to the main living areas is a wonderful outdoor bath to embrace the serenity of the bush land and open air.

Throughout the home Tassie timbers have been utilised, with Tas oak floors, and seventy metres of celery-top pine decking that flows off the living areas promoting unity between the indoor and outdoor environments.
