One of the highest points in the Southern Midlands, nearly 700 metres above sea level, is Pikes Hill. A simply stunning peak marked with a huge stone survey cairn from which on a good day you can see Ben Lomond, Maria Island, Mount Wellington, and Table Mountain to name just a few. The 70 hectares of forest surrounding this peak is home to deer, wallabies, wedge tailed eagles, and much other wildlife.
Nestled on the sheltered eastern side of the peak is about 100 hectares of fertile pastured land running 50 Angus cows and approx 500 merino ewes joined to suffolks. It is also growing malting barley and has previously grown poppies and potatoes. Irrigation water from the Arthurs Lake Scheme could potentially be purchased annually to use on the property.
“Pikes Hill” has a brilliant balance of recreation and productive farm land just an hour from Hobart with bitumen road access. Not often do you find an affordable property with such a spectacular outlook and yet so much valuable farming land all on the one parcel. This is the perfect investor block, add-on, or small stand alone holding with plenty of development potential.
