Launceston architect, Lionel Morrell was inspired by the famous 20th century American architect Frank Lloyd Wright when redesigning this spacious, modern, executive country home. The lavish two storey extension, completed in 2005 promotes the grandeur of ‘Glendale’. “Glendale ” is situated conveniently 20 minutes drive from Launceston and a shorter drive to the cities Airport via the historic village of Evandale.
The picturesque rolling countryside is a patchwork of hawthorn hedgrows and fertile crop and livestock farms. Beyond the immediate terrain “Glendale” enjoys extensive rural views of the Great Western Tiers.
The home offers generous space throughout its modern design. There are formal and informal dining rooms, a lounge room graced with ‘French doors’ and quality drapes and blinds. Kitchen is sunny and north facing. The study ,again spacious as is the appropriately balanced hallway and staircase leading to a pair of double bedrooms, a large bathroom and dressing rooms.
Returning to the ground floor – a long hallway, flanked by plenty of storage cupboards, leads to a ‘dormitory ‘size bedroom-rumpus area Bedroom 4 is opposite another glamorous bathroom.
A laundry, rear porch, separate toilet and more storage make up this area which open onto the rear ‘south’ garden.
Other structural improvements.
Two stand shearing shed and sheep yards. Workshop which has a concrete floor and power connected. Implement shed, which is galvanised steel framed and zincalume walls and roof. Decommissioned brick dairy. Timber constructed implement shed.
Olives.
Established in the spring of 2005, this commercial olive grove was planted at spacings of approximately 510 trees per hectare. Ten thousand trees were planted in rows ,ready for mechanical ‘hedge row’ harvesting. Individual irrigation spray units have been installed on each tree. A 16 ML dam was built to supply irrigation. Currently the trees are progressing unassisted. A commercial harvest is probable in Autumn 2010.
