The Victorian Governments $52.1 million investment in Footscray will deliver the vision for the Footscray Renewal initiative. The Victorian Government, led by the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD), is working closely with Maribyrnong City Council, the Department of Infrastructure and other Government departments and agencies to deliver the
program of works.
The $52.1 million funding over four years is part of the Melbourne 2030 Transit Cities Program that revitalises metropolitan centres to make them economically stronger, better places to live and work.
It will be invested in central Footscray projects including…
* An upgrade of Nicholson Street mall and other main streets in central Footscray.
* A new, modern pedestrian bridge and public forecourt at Footscray station to improve access and safety.
* Assistance with development of strategic sites in the station precinct.
* A new one-stop planning shop for the marketing and development of central Footscray.
Project works commenced in 2008.

The Minister for Planning will also work with Maribyrnong City Council and State Government agencies to attract investment and issue permits for quality development projects in central Footscray.
