We have loved living on over FOUR beautiful acres in The Patch for the past 32 years. It is with regret that we are moving to something smaller and flatter.

While the house and garden are very private (you can’t see another house) we have great neighbours on either side who are always there if you need them.

Our two children grew up here and enjoyed the benefits of having room to roam free, have horses, minibikes, build cubby houses and billy carts, explore the creek, and dig for old bottles and treasure on the site of the original settlers cottage just above the Bob Mann creek. .

We have grown our vegetables, picked apples, plums, blackberries, chestnuts and mushrooms. In fact there is something to forage from the paddock most of the year.

Although it is somewhat frowned on these days we have always fed the wild birds, particularly the brilliant red and green King Parrots. Down in the creek we frequently see yellow robins and superb blue wrens.

One of our greatest delights has been the creek and the spring. The spring bubbles out of the ground below the access track and its flow has never wained through the longest drought. We have had the water tested and it is perfectly safe to drink. It has been our source of water to the house and garden for most of the past 32 years.

A few years back with the help of our neighbour who is an engineer we installed a Glockemann pump which requires no fuel but amplifies the pressure from the fall in the creek so that it can pump up to the house. He experimented with damming the creek and placing the pump to get the maximum flow. Consequently we share the water with him. It pumps up to Happy Valley each night & to his house during the day. He has a great understanding of the pump and will assist with maintaining it should anything go wrong.

The house is still connected to mains water if you ever need it as a back up, but we never have since installing the Glockemann.

In summer we have spent many hours with friends and family around the pool which is always cool and surrounded by lush greenery, especially the tree ferns. The outdoor spa is enjoyed all year round. In winter you can luxuriate in the hot spa protected from the elements while the rain beats down like a curtain around you. In warmer weather relax with a cool drink in hand while the sun filters through the trees.

We hope that whoever buys our house and land loves it and creates as many wonderful memories as we have.
