One of the most unique properties in the state with amazing history, this “Town Centre” zoned property could suit a range of business uses. On 5190 sqm of land in a prime location, the total floor area of the buildings is estimated to be a whopping 1367sqm. The main stone building consists of a large open space which would be an ideal showroom, a massive approx 14m x 7m cellar, 6 large rooms which would make ideal lounge rooms or offices – all with high ceilings and some with open fireplaces. A couple of shed extensions give you plenty of extra storage space, a kitchen and a bathroom.

This site was used for J.H. Monger’s York merchant and produce business from c.1850, with the main building being built in 1878 – 1879. In 1892 some additions were made to the building during the gold rush days, along with a seperate brick storage building in the same year. In 1963 the establishment of an engineering business saw some more changes to the appearance of the building, with the original front stone wall being removed. The stones of that wall are still onsite. The building was once double storey, and there is still a lot of room in the roof attic which may be used for more space if needed.

With access to the railway, rail trucks were loaded with sandalwood, wheat, wool, fodder and other farm produce for transport to Perth and Fremantle, and allowed the delivery to the store of grocery items, furniture, farm implements and everything else which the Mongers provided for the York market.
