A fine example of an original settlers cottage built just after the turn of the Century. The jarrah cladding has been stripped of layers of paint, repaired and oiled. Newer parts are clad with oiled cedar and the whole insulated with batts.
The older rooms have high ceilings, some of pressed tin and retain many of the features of the period.
The kitchen and bathroom are modernised, light and airy with polished floorboards.
All three bedrooms are comfortably sized for double beds and furniture.
The lounge room, with its tile fire, is an ideal family entertaining area or quiet haven when the youngsters are safely tucked in bed.
There is also a separate laundry and toilet building.
The house sits on 3.68ha of fertile ground with a large dam which provides water for the fully reticulated orchard and a flexible reticulation system around the property. The 111 fruit trees comprise a wide variety of plums as well as apricots, apples, peaches, nectarines, cherries, almonds, a mulberry, fig and olive tree. The remaining land is pasture with hundreds of native trees and shrubs of over 60 varieties planted in recent years to create a parkland style setting.
The 20m square powered lockup shed with large doors at each end was used for apple packing in the heyday of the orchards in the 1950′s and is now a useful storage and workshop area. It encompasses a covered lean-to along one side for the wood store or undercover parking for caravans or boats.
An ideal property for a family and perhaps a small business right on the edge of the historic village of Kendenup. K11P
